Tim, with the Next Challenge expidition grant thing
Same ol' place, new faces!! Well, sort of new, anyways; Renita came along! Other than my fam jam, she's the only one to come camping with us! This is noteworthy because we have a bunch of friends who like camping and have expressed interest in comping along, but so far she's the only one to take us up on that! Of course, I didn't get any photos of her, but she got one of me.
Here's a slightly abbreviated email I just got(!!!)
"I think your idea is great. It's exactly the kind of thing we want to support: ambitious but the kind of thing most people could do if they really put their minds to it. (...) I am talking to some of our sponsors about getting some equipment to you in Canada. I love what you guys are doing and really hope that we'll be able to help. Apologies again for not being able to give you a definite answer. I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Tim and the team" I was sitting in the GIS lab at school, a space often filled with people I know, but also quite quiet most of the time. Needless to say, I could not contain my excitement and may have let out a little squeal before telling everyone there what just happened. I then let everyone get back to work and did an internal happy dance. Here's a link to his post announcing the winners. Those other projects look so amazing! I just want to do them all. I can't believe that this is up there with those epic people and projects! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!
I sure have lots to be thankful for this year, my dad and sister are visiting! Because of my dad's accident, he wasn't able to fly out here to help my sister move in (that lead to nights 18 and 19 with my sister) but he changed his flights around so he could come out here now instead! We've had a blast this weekend, going on a couple hikes and doing some beach combing. My dad is much more appreciative of my fun rock facts than my sister is :P Both my dad and I were stuffing our pockets with neat looking or cool rocks but she wasn't having any of it. I sent her back to uni with a bunch of surprise rocks in her suitcase, moihaha. |
